Summary: Jack sharing a ski lodge, blankets, and a night in front of the fire with Daniel
Jack watched Daniel sleep, and remembered the night that changed everything; They had been talking into the night in his quarters, and Daniel fell asleep. He had watched a while, and then tried to sleep himself... When they had talked, they had said nothing at all, and yet so much. It was their way... It was not long after Kera/Linnea had touched their lives, particularly Daniel's, again...
As Jack fell asleep that night, somehow, he knew how Daniel felt. He knew himself the feeling of being unloved, of feeling so anyhow; of feeling unlovable, and pained. And he tried to ignore his mind telling him he wanted to love Daniel, to heal them both, if he could... There was no place for that here, no place for that love he wanted to give in both their lives...
In the here and now, as Jack watched Daniel sleep again, in this snow covered cabin, his eyes flickered from Daniel's beautiful face, imagining the blue eyes behind those lids, to the white snow in the dark sky outside the window; dark but for the brilliant stars, whiter even than the snow in the onyx sky.
He couldn't help but hope Daniel might wake later, so that they could make love in front of the fire, as they had the night before. It was a corny romantic image, sure, but it worked – God! It worked! Unlike his knees, but then, that's where the faux fur blankets, and the mountains of pillows, came in...
"Penny for 'em..?" Daniel asked, breaking Jack's reverie, as he sat on the edge of the sofa, his prayers answered...
He smiled at Daniel. "Just looking at those blankets over there..." He mused.
"Warm and thick enough to sleep in, I'd say!" Daniel yawned. Though they hadn't slept there all night before, Daniel somehow thought they could, and liked the idea of doing so.
"A bit like me!" Jack joked, eyes sparkling, his hand rubbing Daniel's shoulder gently.
"A bit!" Daniel joked lightly, as he sat around on the sofa, feet on the luxurious carpet.
"Do you want to?" Jack asked gently.
Daniel grinned, his eyes suddenly a little more awake. "Of course!" He leaned in, and kissed the side of Jack's neck.
Jack began to stand immediately, in more ways than one, he noted wryly. Not bad for an 'old' soldier, but then, this was Daniel... He and Daniel went over to the blankets, four of them, retrieved from around the holiday home they were staying in, and arranged them a little more carefully; two to lay on, two to be covered with, and a pile of spare pillows, also retrieved from around the cabin.
They knelt on the thick, luxuriant blankets, so different from U.S.A.F issue, and kissed, wrapping their arms around each other's shoulders, draping them around, up and down each other's bodies... Then they lay down gently, curved into each other, spooning, warming nicely, clothes, having been disposed of, and thrown afar, across the room, as they had kissed. Now, they lay on the blankets, not far from the fire, drawing yet more faux fur around them slightly, soft against their working, still breathing skin, and hardened bodies...
Jack smiled, and kissed Daniel's shoulder, the same one he had early rubbed affectionately. "This reminds me of the night everything changed..." He mentioned to Daniel.
"But we didn't get to make love then..." Daniel replied, as he felt Jack press him gently, not entering just yet. Though they hadn't done this or anything at all that night, Jack's presence, and his skilled body, reminded Daniel of the night when he was aware of Jack sleeping next to him on that bed...
"We will tonight, Daniel..." Jack promised.
"I know..." Daniel answered, carefully turning to kiss Jack's hand as it touched him, resting just below his shoulder. He could feel Jack's deep, dark, warm eyes burning into him slowly, as they looked with reverence upon his body, the curve of his neck and shoulders from this angle, the line of his back and round buttocks, which just ribbed the exquisitely soft, yet down to earth, sheets...
Jack's body honestly tingled with the touch Daniel gave him, no matter how much of a cliché he knew it was conforming to. And, it genuinely took his breath away, stalling him for an un-noticeable moment, before he let his body move on inward, easing and pleasing Daniel.
Daniel's hands reached back, caressing Jack's thighs, and then, they moved up, around the back of Jack's neck, caressing the soft hair there, and encouraging Jack to touch lips to his body, and breach the hollow gap that was barely between them... He held Jack everywhere and everyhow he could, as Jack continued, pressing him carefully and consentually, loving him kindly, firm, as well as gentle, in every way he could be... This was everything Daniel had every dreamed of since his first moment of adulthood, and certainly, since meeting Jack, although he'd quelled those dreams and feelings ever more, until Sha're had died... Then, well, then, the feelings hit him full force, in spite of the rules of his workplace, and after he had grieved for his wife, and the family life she had given him on Abydos... "I love you, Jack..." Daniel said now, as he felt Jack move within him, next to him, and on him... He found the freedom to say it, a freedom that didn't come as easily to him as a lot of people assumed... It wasn't often said; because of work, because of the men they were, and it wasn't written as often as Daniel would like, again because of work, BUT it was always shown by both of them, and what they were willing to do, on so many levels, for each other...
"I love you, too, Daniel..." Jack answered naturally, and genuinely. He wasn't shy, for once, he realised.
They made love until they came, and vowed to use the ski resort's dry cleaners, as discreetly as possible, before they left... This precious holiday certainly had not been much about skiing! And their lives were high octane, enduring, challenging and exhilarating enough these days... They could not risk injuries from skiing anyway, as duties were awaiting their safe/complete return back home... Some people knew they were holidaying together, and both men were sure some people knew why. Jack and Daniel both cursed the fact that they could not be strong enough to stay away from one another, for the sake of each other, and possibly, it was not too arrogant to say, the rest of the world(s), BUT also, they blessed that same fact, for bringing them so much happiness; completeness they thought they could never have, perhaps ever, or again, even for a day... As much as they were risking, they were gaining by allowing themselves to be together, and it wasn't all selfish!
Right now, they fell asleep, wrapped in faux fur, and each other, spooning again, as the wood burner continued safely through the night. If you wanted to be poetic, you could say, they mused, in the moments before sleep, unspoken, yet simultaneous, that it was just like their love..! Together, they fell asleep with the same thought, they were so entwined!
The End
