Summary: At a NCIS related funeral of an old colleague of Jack's, Magnum PI and MacGyver are also there. This forces Jack to re-evaluate his feelings for Daniel

View Points Of Love

We were both invited to the funeral of an old military colleague. I felt I had to go not only for myself, but my Dad, Jacob. I wanted and hoped to be there for Jack. But it wasn't me he wanted. It was Daniel...

At the wake, Jack began talking to his cousin, Angus MacGyver, who was also there, and their friend, Thomas Magnum. I overheard some of the conversation... I honestly couldn't help it. I was in the hallway as they walked in that room, and shut the door.

"Jack, what is your problem?!" Mac asked his cousin. "I've never been in the Military, and Magnum resigned long ago. We don't have to live by their rules!"

"Are you jealous?" Magnum asked plainly.

"No!" Jack answered loudly as he could.

"I don't think that's the truth!" MacGyver replied.

Magnum looked to his partner Mac.

"Nothing like that!" Mac replied.

Jack shivered at the thought that had obviously crossed Magnum's mind. "Never!" He said.

"OK, so what's the problem then? You afraid to be associated with us?" Thomas Magnum asked.

"It isn't that!" Jack stated.

"What then!?" Mac asked.

"Daniel." Jack replied, quietly.

"Who's Daniel?" Mac and Magnum asked at the same time.

"Someone..." Jack replied.

"Hey, Jack..!" Jethro called out, as his old pal was getting into the car.

Jack stopped. "I won't be long..." He said to Sam, as he shut the car door, and then, walked over to Jethro Gibbs.

"You alright?" Leroy Jethro Gibbs asked Jonathan 'Jack' O'Neill.

"Uhu!" Jack grinned.

"You don't sound convincing..." Jethro answered.

"I've got to sort a few things out when I get home..." Jack told Jethro.

"These things'll do that to ya..." Jethro talked of the funeral.

"Yeah!" Jack tried to reply upbeat. "Hi, Ducky!" He changed the subject, and spoke to Jethro's friend, Ducky, sitting in Jethro's yellow and black car.

"Hello, Jack..!" Ducky smiled.

***

"So, Jack came to the funeral with Samantha..." Ducky noted.

"They both got an invite to the funeral, Duck." Jethro replied, as he drove home with his secret, long-time lover.

"He looked like he was missing someone very badly..." Ducky commented. "And, forgive how awful this sounds, but I don't think it's your friend..." Ducky spoke of the man whose funeral they'd just been to...

Jethro nodded, and reached for Ducky's hand to hold it momentarily.

On the way home with him, I was trying to think of anything but how I could be of no help to Jack... I cope with it every day, knowing we'll never get together. I don't hate him for it, or Daniel, since I figured out that they love each other. But I really felt the need to take some leave, get way away... Maybe, go see my Aunt, Jessica Fletcher, the authoress, in Cabot Cove. I'd talk to General Hammond about it when we got home.

Jack hated his nerves, and seeing Daniel surrounded by new colleagues, he felt so self conscious.

Daniel looked up, and saw Jack. He walked up to him right away.

"Hi..." Daniel said.

"Hi..." Jack replied.

"You and Sam okay..?" Daniel pondered.

"The funeral went as okay as funerals do!" Jack said, trying not to think about the obvious memories those thoughts brought up.

"I'm sorry this whole debacle came up, and I couldn't attend..." Daniel said again.

"How are things going now?" Jack asked.

"Throw enough experts at it and the job gets done!" Daniel laughed gently. "I still would have been exactly nowhere if it weren't for their help..." Daniel looked back over his shoulder at called in experts Charlie Epps, Rodney McKay, Jeanie McKay, Spencer Reid, and Patrick Jane. "This has certainly been an odd one!" He looked back to Jack.

"Are you due a break?" Jack asked Daniel.

"Yeah!" Daniel smiled.

"Going back to your quarters?" Jack asked.

"Uhu..." Daniel nodded.

"Can I walk with you?" Jack asked.

"Yeah..." Daniel replied, worriedly. "What's the matter?" He asked Jack, thinking that it must have something to do with the funeral.

"I just wanna chat!" Jack replied, smiling at Daniel.

My visit to Aunt Jessica didn't quite go as planned. Let's just say it provided her with her greatest mystery story yet! Shame she's signed a piece of paper that says she can never tell it! I had attended, and spoken at a conference before going to my Aunt's, and someone followed me home, or to her home... A Goa'uld someone, to be more precise. Jack, Daniel, and Teal'c had to come up to Cabot Cove, and help me take care of our enemy. After that, Aunt Jessica and I got whisked back to the SGC, and tested profusely, for signs of anything Goa'uld!

Free from any such thing, we now lie in the Infirmary, in beds beside each other, and I am just watching Jack walk away from my bedside, Daniel next to him.

"You like him, don't you?" My Aunt asks me.

I turn my head to look across at her.

"I'm so sorry..." My Mom's sister says.

I try not to let that tear in the corner of my eye get any further.

"I'm sorry for all of you..." Aunt Jessica notes.

I know what she means.

Jack stood next to Daniel in the showers, perfectly aware of their surroundings, of who might walk in, and trying not to snatch a look at Daniel's perfectly formed body.

Daniel looked across at him, and read his mind as always. He so badly wanted to reach out to Jack, the man who had fought for him every time, like the day when he confronted the Ancients, and convinced them to let Daniel, his friend, re-descend. Yes, Ascension, in a way, though it had saved his life, had been a mistake. Daniel's loyalty would always be with Jack and the others, with this world, this universe in fact... But mostly, firstly, no matter what decision he had to make, or what it meant for the both of them, he knew he would always think of Jack... When Jack talked to Daniel over a week ago, they had thanked God, in as much as they could still believe in him, that there were no security cameras in personnel quarters. It had ended in a kiss! It had ended in holding on to each other; biceps, bodies close, heads on each other's shoulders, their admittance having overwhelmed them...

They loved each other undoubtedly, and longed to be at home, Jack's place, together, alone...
