Summary: Jack grows a pair and kisses Daniel, promising him more than he's been able to give him before, and meaning it this time!!!
Jack stepped back.
Daniel looked at him. "What did you do that for?" He demanded.
"Because, Daniel, you know why!" Jack explained.
"I know you kissed Sam! When we had our window of opportunity excursion to do anything we wanted, without the consequences, you kissed Sam! You might even have gone further, for all I know!"
Jack kicked himself, not for the first time. "I kissed Sam because I wanted to see what it was like!"
"Evidently!" Daniel fumed, or would have, if he had the energy.
"I wanted to see what it was like, so that I could see if it stopped me thinking about you!" Jack mused aloud.
"What, so, I'm just one step too far against the Regs!? I threaten your manhood, do I??" Daniel challenged his friend.
"Daniel, I have fuckin' screwed up, I know that!!" Jack told him.
"And probably screwed around!!!" Daniel tried to keep his voice quiet, even though the SGC was, due to maintenance, in partial lockdown, and they were the only ones in this sector. "You might threaten my manhood, think about that..?"
"I'm sorry, Daniel..." Jack met Daniel's eyes.
"Yeah..." Daniel didn't back away.
"And I'm clean, too..." Jack added.
"Oh, so that makes all the difference, does it?!" Daniel replied.
"No. I want to do that!" Jack admitted.
"You kissed Sam, Jack! You've got issues!!... And, before you make a joke about that, at Sam's ore your expense, you know damn well what I'm getting at!!!" Daniel answered what he knew would be Jack's first response.
"Yeah-sure-you-betcha..." Jack confessed quietly.
"What, apart from being alone where no one would see us, gave you this idea anyway..?!" Daniel gestured. "Envy Teal'c's man on man action with Jonas, do you?? Thought you'd have another go at messin' with my heart???"
Jack winced. He could see tears in Daniel's eyes, behind fury. He knew he'd put those tears there, worn that spirit down. Did he have the right to do this?
"You're gonna back down now, I suppose! Crawl away again?? It's you that needs to grow a pair, Jack, not me!" Daniel almost yelled.
Jack stepped forward, and kissed Daniel again, ready to back away if Daniel rejected him. When the kiss was done, Jack stayed close, and looked into Daniel's eyes again. "I don't want to mess you around anymore, Daniel..."
Daniel let Jack hold him, and prayed he wasn't being stupid to do so! "Does this mean what I think it does?"
"I want a relationship with you, yes - No running away included..." Jack held Daniel, and, for the third time in recent moments, looked into his eyes – Praying that he would never deprive himself of that privilege again, never jeopardise it in any way, ever again...
Daniel tentatively put his arms around Jack, meeting his eyes as he did so. "You remember the day, when I lay in the Infirmary and told you that if I had a sister, I'd never let you near her..?"
"Yeah..." Jack smiled cautiously, though he knew Daniel wouldn't hurt him now, but didn't blame him if he was about to.
"That's because I wanted you all to myself!" Daniel confided.
"And now, you have me, at long last... I'm sorry..." Jack genuinely repeated the truth.
"I know..." Daniel fathomed, and he draped his arms around Jack's shoulders, pulling him, O'Neill, the man he had loved for so long, and still loved to this day, into his arms...
