Summary: On a summer evening, Jack and Daniel have their First Time together, and it was helped along the way by the barbecue sauce!!
Info: There is such a thing as JackDaniel's Barbecue Sauce!

In summer air that did nothing to denote how far north they were on the map, Daniel leant forward across the table to retrieve the barbecue sauce. He was helping Jack tidy up after the others had headed home from the evening outdoor meal at Jack's place. He always seemed to be the last to go home, not that he was bothered by it, in that kind of way... He looked at the label on the sauce bottle, and smiled in spite of himself.

"You've seen it then?" Jack peeked over Daniel's shoulder, as he came back out on to the patio.

"Yeah..." Daniel said.

"Couldn't resist it; thought it might add a little fire to the evening!" Jack said.

Again, Daniel couldn't help but smile, at the same time as a pang of pain hit him. But he had to live with that.

They continued to tidy up, in companionable silence.

When they got inside, closing the patio doors, and standing in Jack's kitchen, loading the dish washer, Jack announced; "You're not driving home tonight. You've had a beer, and I know you and beer!"

"OK." Daniel was too tired to say otherwise, and too comfortable at Jack's house.

"I'll get the spare room ready..." Jack stated, grinning and closing the dishwasher.

"Cool." Daniel smiled gently, watching Jack lean over to turn the machine on. "Stupid asking a Military Guy this, but you want help making the bed??" He almost bit his tongue. He hadn't meant that the way it sounded, like Jack hadn't meant what he'd said earlier, but then, it wasn't too bad. At least he hadn't said 'unmake the bed'..!

"Come on then!" Jack said brightly, as he moved through his place to the airing cupboard.

Jack lay in bed, thinking about his best friend, trying not to... And, earlier, he thought he had heard him pacing.

"Jack..." Daniel called gently, from the hallway, all of a sudden.

Unsleepy anyway, and ever more alert because Daniel had called for him, Jack tried not to imagine it was not in the same way as Daniel had done so when in danger on some missions. But he couldn't think why else Daniel would be waking him, unless it was to ask if they could get to the SGC straight away because he had just thought of some vital evidence previously locked away in a book for the last three thousand years! Jack darted out of bed, to his doorway, and opened it to see Daniel, standing nearby, looking okay, but sweating a tad. "I didn't give you food poisoning, did I?!" Jack thought immediately.

Daniel smiled, in the dim light that the moon leant them. "No. I'm fine, but I have been thinking about the Jack Daniel's Barbecue Sauce!"

"You're not trying to save my feelings, are you? If you're ill, Daniel..." Jack indicated.

"I'm fine, Jack, but I don't know why I'm out here, risking everything if I am!" Daniel stated.

"Daniel, are you sleep walking?? Do you have a low sugar level?? Do you need coffee!?? Let's get you to the kitchen!" Jack decided, walking out to stand by Daniel quickly.

"Well, that is where the barbecue sauce is, I suppose..!" Daniel sort of laughed to himself.

"I'll buy you a crateful next Christmas!" Jack promised.

"I love you, Jack!" Daniel said, before he could be walked any further in the direction of the kitchen. The cold tiles on his feet would awaken him far too much, in one respect, maybe reduce his awakening in others.

"Exactly how many beers did you have, my friend..?!" Jack pondered.

"One, Jack – But I still love you!!" Daniel reasserted.

"You don't mean that like it sounds!" Jack smiled patiently.

"I do, Jack! I do." Daniel faced Jack squarely. He wasn't expecting what happened in the next few moments.

" You need coffee!!" Jack announced, ushering Daniel kitchenward.

Daniel put his hand on Jack's forearm and swapped their forward progress for another kind.

Jack, the consummate, disciplined soldier was all over Daniel with kisses. Punctuated as well as drawn out.

"I wasn't expecting that..!" Daniel said, in a quick breather.

"What were you expecting then??" Jack puzzled.

"To get ignored or lectured, and, or, thrown off the team!!" Daniel held to Jack.

"Then why did you risk all that, which I'm not going to do, by the way..." Jack added, despite every regulation and reason in his head yelling at him to do all of those things, or be a selfish, irresponsible bastard, instead of just a cold hearted one...

"Because I couldn't not tell you, for some reason, and because I had hoped..!" Daniel admitted.

"And now?" Jack asked, wrapping his arms warmly around Daniel. "Do you still want some Jack Daniel's sauce..?!"

"Yeah, I do, but the stuff in the kitchen can wait 'til morning... Right now, you're taking me to sleep with you!" Daniel grabbed hold of Jack's hand.

"Sleep as in sleep, or sleep as in, you know... Sleep..?" Jack queried carefully.

"Whatever you want to do... But it's in your bed!" Daniel smiled, as they walked.

"Is that because you want to use the Barbecue Sauce??" Jack questioned. "Or you need some coffee?!"

"Maybe, in the morning!" Daniel grinned, eyes smiling. "But I think we can put together a batch of hot sauce in bed, for now! And I certainly don't need coffee to wake me up now!"

Jack laughed kindly. "The sauce added some heat to the evening anyway, no matter what..!" He said, and kissed Daniel, as they got back to Jack's room. He shut the door, to ajar, behind them, and felt Daniel's hand in his, and his own body's reaction to that, and the night air coming through his bedroom window...

Daniel lay down on Jack's bed, and was so grateful to be there, in the way his dreams had always told him he needed to be...

Jack climbed onto his bed with Daniel, and was so grateful he was going to get to love this man...

The End
