Summary: In a scene that mirrors Daniel on the balcony in Light, we are in an AU where, in s8, Daniel still lives in an Apartment. Jack walks in and finds Daniel on the railing edge of the balcony, and talks him down again. They end up making love for the first time!

Save Me

"Daniel, please..." Jack called to him. "Let me help you!"

"I've gone through this twice, Jack, ever grief, every..." Daniel trailed off.

"Daniel!" Jack moved forward, alarmed.

"I can't start thinking about it all again!" Daniel explained. "And I can't help it!"

"You were there for me each time one of those stupid Asgard devices wiped my memory, and it took me a while to... quell..." Jack picked his own words carefully, for the pain of his own memories, as well as Daniel's. "the memories again..."

"I didn't even have my mind wiped this time, Jack... She just dropped me off home, but my mind..." Daniel tried to communicate his thoughts.

"I know, Daniel... I know..." Jack said, carefully reaching out and securing Daniel away from the edge of his apartment balcony, like he had four years ago... He pulled Daniel into his arms. "It doesn't matter how the memories are plaguing you again – I'll be with you through it all..." He promised, helping Daniel away from danger, back toward the sofa.

Daniel turned into Jack's arms, his shoulder leaning on Jack's chest, his hands by Jack's embracing arms.

Jack leant to touch Daniel's face with his lips, and tried not to linger, to think about his mouth.

Daniel tilted his head back, and felt Jack's lips accidentally brush near his mouth, so he pulled those lips to his.

Jack froze.

Daniel pulled back, in tears. "Sorry..." He whispered.

"It's not that, Daniel... It's just; I don't want to give you anything else to feel guilty about, anything else to regret... If I keep this going, I'll be taking advantage..." Jack worried aloud.

"I'm not some twenty year old Stargate newbie, Jack..." Daniel said wearily.

"No." Jack soothed him. "But you're in pain! I don't want to add to it..."

"Then, please, Jack... Just give in to it." Daniel pleaded.

Jack shifted to tenderly hold Daniel to him all the more, and he bent the lips of his mouth to meet Daniel's. They stayed together at that point for ages, and then, Jack eased Daniel to lay back onto the sofa, and began to make love to him... All throughout their loving, it was as though each man's silent call to the other of "Save me!" was finally being answered...
