Summary: Love wins out between Jack & Daniel, in a moment alone
Jack woke again, in the middle of the night, and rolled on his back to look at the ceiling in despair. He got up, and padded into his sitting room, where he found Daniel flicking through old journals and photo albums that had been brought out of storage for him.
"Hi..." He said softly, as he looked up.
Jack sat beside him. "Hi..."
"Why can't you sleep?" Daniel pondered.
"Oh, you know, a lot of things on my mind!" Jack smiled.
"Certainly do..!" Daniel smiled back.
"Sorry, Daniel..." Jack touched his hand. He pulled the hand back as the memory flew through him.

"We so should have done this much earlier..." Jack smiled through his tears.
Daniel tried to do the same. "I'm so sorry I had to do what I did..."
"For cryin' out loud, Daniel! You saved a whole planet! Typical you..!" He said good naturedly.
"I wouldn't say that... I've got a lot to make up for!" Daniel replied.
Jack reached for Daniel, and held him in his arms. "No. You haven't..." He kissed Daniel again. They were longing so much... "Now, go and find your peace, Daniel... I love you."
With one more moment to look at Jack, one more moment in his arms, Daniel turned, because he had no choice but to turn away, and become an Ancient.

"Are you okay, Jack..?" Daniel asked.
Jack came back to the moment.
"Why jump like that??" Daniel asked.
"Because I just remembered..." Jack wiped his eyes tiredly. "You and Sam..." He trailed off.
"You and Sam had a thing for a while, didn't you??" Daniel asked. "What I said to her, it was all because of my last memory of her telling me, in her way, that she loved me... I'm not in love with her, Jack."
"Me and Sam never had a thing, Daniel..." Jack said.
"It's okay, Jack. I'll never say a thing!" Daniel genuinely promised.
"It was you and me, Daniel..." Jack said quickly. "It was us who had a thing, once... Don't you remember??" He asked, exasperated.
Daniel locked his blue eyes to Jack's brown eyes, and, in the next moment, Daniel kissed Jack...
"Daniel, I'm sorry. I pressured you. Shouldn't have said anything!" Jack mumbled, as they kissed still.
"Thank you, Jack... Now I know why I've been wanting to do that ever since I got home..." Daniel explained.
"I hope this time was more memorable than the last!!" Jack joked half heartedly.
"I remember it just fine now, Jack... I knew something had happened in those final moments... I'm just so used to having to repress it... I didn't even know if it was true!" Daniel said honestly.
"It was true alright..!" Jack grinned, touching Daniel's face reverently.
"Does this mean we both feel the same way..?" Daniel wondered.
"I love you, Daniel..." Jack said, looking into those blue eyes. "And I'm so sorry I couldn't go with you, Ascend with you, then, or when you asked me at Baal's jail..." Jack confessed.
"I know why you couldn't, Jack. You still feel like you have to wait and find out... I get it!" He promised.
Tears threatened Jack O'Neill again somehow... "Thank you..." He hugged Daniel, kissing his neck.
"I love you, too, Jack O'Neill..." Daniel answered him.
