Chuck Fishman got home, and fell asleep on the bed... The next thing he knew, a noise seemed to awake him, and a man wearing a bowtie and a girl with red hair were in his house...

"Hello, Chuck!" The man said cheerily.

"If this is a dream, can you, please, leave the room, and leave this tall red-headed fine piece of womanhood alone with me..." Chuck murmured.

"You know you don't mean that..!" The redhead announced.

"Oh, but I do!" Chuck protested.

"I happen to know you're still in love with someone else!" She answered him.

"I am not!" He insisted.

"Oh, but you are..!" The man interjected. "Maybe I should have called on Captain Jack to remind you of how you feel when..."

"He knows..." The redhead stated. "He's just in denial!"

"Wake up, Charles!" The bow-tie clad man instructed.

"I'd rather not..!" Chuck turned away...

"Oh, but you would..!" The tall redheaded woman told him. "You really would – If you did, you'd be surprised!"

"Who are you?" Chuck asked the man, who seemed to be in charge...

"A friend of Lucius Snow..." The man informed him. "And my friend here is Pond!"

"Uh-oh..." Chuck noted. "Just let me go back to sleep!"

"No." Bow-tie man said unequivocally.

"Gary needs you..!" 'Pond' told him.

Chuck's stomach seized. "What happened??"

"Nothing," The man began, and he spoke honestly, praying that his words would hold true for these two people's lifetime, that they could enjoy their new found happiness for many days, if they were helped along the way..." but he still needs you..." Bow-tie continued... "We're here to help you along your way – It's boring watching you two make no progress at all!"

"And you know you need him!" Pond spoke up again. She certainly wasn't afraid to do that...

"This new life you envisioned, it isn't everything you were hoping, is it?" The fella in the bowtie questioned Chuck.

"No..." Chuck finally admitted.

"Then go home to Gary!" The bowtie guy pulled Chuck out of his bed...

It was then that Chuck noticed it, for the first time, unbelievably... The Blue Box. "How'd that get in my house??" Chuck mused aloud as he stared at it. For some reason, he didn't ask the same of how these two people had turned up in the middle of the night.

"It's bigger on the inside than it is on the outside and everything!!" The man hurried him along.

The next thing Chuck knew, he was in this... This place... This thing... And, then, he was unceremoniously turfed out, with a pair of what the bowtie dude called trousers, but Chuck knew they were really pants, and a red scarf the redhead gave him...

"Sort things out with Gary!" She told him, as he turned back briefly, but when, because he couldn't quite believe, he did so again, it was gone, and so were the people in it...

Chuck stood there a while, and tried hard to get his bearings... He walked, until he made sense of where he was, and why he had been left there....

In the middle of the night, Gary's doorbell rang. "Chuck!" He said. He couldn't believe it was his friend. "Are you okay?"

"I didn't interrupt anything, did I??" Chuck asked, dazed by so much.

"Not a thing... I'm all alone!" Gary answered truthfully.

"Me, too..." Chuck told him, crossing the threshold, and pulling Gary to him as he walked in. He kissed him. For the first time. He kissed him...

"Oh my God!" Gary whispered, his mouth millimetres from Chuck's...

Chuck leant on him in that moment. "Yeah..."

Gary hugged Chuck, holding the man he loved to him... "I can't believe you're here..!"

"Some friends of Lucius Snow helped me get here..." Chuck admitted.

"Are you staying" Gary couldn't help but ask.

Chuck looked up into Gary's eyes. "Always." He paused. "I've got everything I ever dreamed of at last..." He breathed. He looked into Gary's eyes again. "You remember that time when you were on jury duty, and I pretended to be your lover"

Gary nodded.

"It was bittersweet and everything, but I enjoyed that..." Chuck confided.

Gary held Chuck gently but tightly. It was a cliché but he felt as though he was looking into his friend's eyes for the first time. "We should have done this years ago...!"

"You're right there..!" Chuck smiled.

Gary kissed that smile, and that man he loved, at long last...

The End
