An idea popped into Jessica Fletcher's mind! She hated to be a busy body, and hoped fervently that that isn't exactly what she'd be, if she took this idea up...

Daniel Jackson was like a member of Jessica's family. He was a young boy, when she first met him, through her nephew Grady. They had befriended one another because of some similarities in their lives. Daniel was an orphan, too.

All these years later, Daniel was a man with a lot to offer the world. He was an Archaeologist and Anthropologist, a very clever man, a very dear soul... But he had no one other than his old pal, Grady, and Jessica, as his family... No one to share his life with.

Jessica had seen Angus MacGyver in town today; he'd been away for a while, and they had talked for some time... She'd invited him to one of her little dinner parties two nights from now; she would soon be going on another book tour, and tended to have a meal with her friends before she went, as well as when she got back...

Sitting here, in her house now, she picked up the phone. "Daniel?" She said, as the receiver was picked up.

"Hello, Jess!" He answered.

"I know that usually Grady is here in Cabot Cove when you visit, but would you like to come to a dinner party, around 6.30pm, two nights from now? Unless, of course, you'll be off on your travels again soon, or you have company planned that evening..?" Jessica queried.

"Nothing and no one, Jess... I'd be happy to enjoy a meal! Who's at the dinner party?" Daniel pondered.

"Amos, Seth, Floyd, and another friend, who moved into Cabot Cove recently. He's in a similar field of work to you... It just seems like a nice way to catch up with you both, because he's just got back from a trip away, too, and, this way, you'll both have someone to talk to while you eat a decent meal for once!" Jessica said, good-naturely.

"Sounds like a nice idea to me..!" Daniel told her genuinely. "I'll be there!"

Mac had promised to do the washing up after the dinner party for Jessica, but he was glad to have a companion. He knew he liked Doctor Daniel Jackson already. He hadn't been with anyone since Michael Burke, the computer and software programmer he met through the Phoenix Foundation. Jessica knew Michael, too, through her old friends in Cabot Cove, but she hadn't brought him and Michael together... Mac tried not to smile as he noted to himself that he was glad she had brought him and Daniel together though..! "Been a good evening, hasn't it?" He asked Daniel.

"It's been a great way to spend an evening..!" Daniel grinned, as he dried the umpteenth dish.

Mac smiled. "Daniel, I..." His voice trailed off. He wanted to place one of his soap-suddy hands on the closest one of Daniel's, equally covered with suds.

"Me, too!" Daniel replied quietly.

Mac heard himself sigh happily. "I'm glad, Daniel..."

"I'll be here for a couple of days..." Daniel said, looking Mac in the eyes.

"I'm glad about that, too!" Mac replied. "Can we spend some time together?"

"Of course!" Daniel 's hand brushed Mac's hand as he said it.

"I can't believe it's been just two days since Jessica's dinner party..." Daniel mused.

"Two days, and one night..!" Mac continued. "Our first night..!" He added.

"MMmmmmmmmmmmm..!" Daniel murmured as Mac then kissed him, in his bed, the bed they shared in Mac's house. Daniel tried not to think too much yet about the fact that he never wanted to leave this bed, in this house, with this man..!

"Daniel, thank you..." Mac breathed.

"What for?" Daniel asked, as a breath within him hitched, an effect of Mac's umpteenth touch...

"For everything!" Mac replied, as he kissed down Daniel's chest.

"Thank you, too..!" Daniel replied genuinely.

"Tonight, when we're finished here... For the time being..." Mac began. "Maybe we should tidy ourselves up, and go see Jessica..."

"I think that would be a good idea, since she introduced us..." Daniel held Mac's hand, as Mac pressed, carefully, into him, and against him...

"She's a clever woman; she could have a career as a matchmaker if she ever gets bored of writing..!" Mac hypothesized.

"I SO agree..!" Daniel smiled, too, as he turned his face up toward Mac's, and their lips kissed...
