Jack drove along in the truck, and the song on the radio played in the background, until a few of its words: 'Somewhere there's a dreamer Looking for a dream Somewhere there's a drifter Trying to find his way Somewhere someone's waiting To hear somebody say I believe in you' struck him as if a lorry were coming the other way! He turned the truck around, and headed to Daniel's. He'd never said it, any of it... And, despite it all, their differences included, it was still true, so he should say it... His guilt at leaving Daniel alone was bad already.

"Daniel!" Jack said firmly, almost shouting, as though panicked, when he knocked on the door.

"Jack!" Daniel replied, in surprise, as he opened his door. "I thought you were making the break to Washington..?"

"Can I come in, Daniel?" Jack asked, absent-mindedly.

"You don't usually ask!" Daniel remarked, good naturedly.

Jack took that as a yes, and walked in.

Daniel shut the front door. As he turned back to Jack, Jack embraced him. Daniel was a little shocked, but happy, and he looked into Jack's eyes. "What's the matter?"

Jack looked into those blue eyes, belonging to Daniel Jackson, and still holding the man in his arms, he kissed him...

Daniel didn't struggle, or pull away... He kissed Jack, and caressed his back and shoulders, melting with them into the clinch, melding their hard bodies... "What does this mean?" He asked, as they parted for breath.

"It means what I've never been able to tell you, Daniel..." Jack paused. "I love you, and, truth is, sappy as it sounds, I couldn't take not being able to tell you anymore..."

"... Before you leave, you mean?" Daniel pondered.

"I have to, Daniel... I can't not be in the Stargate Program, can I? Much as I'd like to walk away from the rules and regulations..!" Jack stated, wearily, shrugging. "But I'll be back now and then, and we can sneak around a bit..."

Daniel reached out, and took Jack into his arms, being the one to initiate the kiss this time... "I love you, too Jack." He told O'Neill, firm and true...
