Daniel Knows

Summary: Jack is distraught with worry that history will repeat itself when Daniel finds he is Mpreg with Jack's child, so Jack tries to destruct the relationship

Daniel knocked on the front door, hard. "I want to speak to Jack! He announced, pushing past the man who opened the door.

"Right..." The half clothed man said, as he shut the door.

Jack just opened the bedroom door, but Daniel didn't give him the chance. He pushed Jack back in the room, and slammed the door behind them.

Jack sat on the bed, while Daniel leaned on the door, and stared at him.

"I know what you're doing, Jack!" Daniel yelled assuredly.

"Done it, just now..." Jack murmured.

"I'm not stupid, Jack! Neither are you! You know damn well what I'm talking about!!" Daniel stated honestly.

Jack just stared into Daniel's blue eyes, and then looked away, to the side.

"You think you're a jinx, don't you?" Daniel knew the answer. "That the baby and I will be happier and safer without you??" Daniel tried to be quiet. This was meant to be a top secret.

Jack looked up at Daniel again.

"Jack, don't run away!!" Daniel instructed as well as pleaded. "You're not saving me any pain! You're not! For Chrissake, I've got worries of my own! Don't you think I consider myself a jinx, too? You're lucky I let you close enough to... What if this, what if?? Jack pointed out there, beyond the closed door to the man whose house they were in, whose bedroom they were in. "Did you ever think of that?? Norad's still not sure! Surprised they let either of us out off their site and out of their sight long enough for any of this!! Jack, everyone I've ever loved has left me, or died... I'm worried I'm a jinx, too! But I'm not letting our baby out there, into any kind of system, solar or otherwise..!" Daniel whispered. "And I don't want to be alone with my worries!!" He spoke up again.

"Daniel, I..." Jack began.

"You're sorry, I hope!!?" Daniel threw up his hands in an exasperated expression.

"Yes, I am!" Jack promised. He'd never been unfaithful before with anyone, or to anyone. Ever. That he'd slipped up when Daniel was his lover, even if he had his reasons, it killed him...

"Jack, it's not over is it?" Daniel tried to get through to Jack, kneeling before him; Daniel felt the baby shift with his own movement.

This anguished Jack. He knew he should be the one on his knees, in so many respects. "Never will be..." He answered, talking about his and Daniel's relationship because he knew Daniel was doing so.

Daniel clasped Jack's hand, and Jack stood slowly, and helped Daniel to be the one seated on the edge of the bed. Then, despite his knees, Jack knelt before Daniel this time. "I'm sorry, Daniel... So sorry!"

"I know you are!" Daniel noted. "But I know why you made it happen..."

"So, now what??" Jack asked, scared.

"I want you to be at home with me and our baby..." Daniel answered plainly. Then, he held Jack's hand again, rubbing his knuckles gently with soft, still loving fingertips. "You'll be okay, Jack. We'll be okay together!" He looked from his stomach, somewhere near where the baby lay, and the swelling of the child being inside him would show if not for his large navy blue sweater.

"Can you forgive me?" Jack asked, achingly, trying to reach out to the baby in Daniel's hidden bump, and to Daniel himself obviously. His eyes had not moved from Daniel's gaze as he spoke.

"I'm here, aren't I?" Daniel looked into Jack's warm brown eyes. "I love you, don't I??"

Jack looked at Daniel, silently saying: Do you? Can you still..? Really..?

Daniel kissed Jack.

"Yes." Jack answered for them both. "Believe it or not, I love you, too!" He told Daniel, as he touched where the baby lay within, undoubtedly, the love of his life...

"I know that..!" Daniel smiled, holding back tears for later, when they were in their own home. Jack's place; Where Daniel had rushed here from, to trace and find Jack. He held Jack's hand yet again. "Come on then..."

Jack stood, and helped Daniel to his feet.

Gripping on to each other, they left the room, closing the door, and they walked straight past Jack's one night stand, Logan Cale... Out of his house, and onwards to their own home.

* * The character who is Jack's one night stand is based on Logan Cale from Dark Angel, played by Michael Weatherly, but he does not have the history Logan Cale does in Dark Angel. I just chose him to give you and me an idea of who Jack went off with!!
