Summary: Horatio takes Eric Delko to his friend, Jack O'Neill's cabin, borrowed for the weekend, so that he and Eric can finally get it together

Horatio had borrowed his friend, Jack's, cabin in Colorado, taking his new partner there so that they could finally be together... It had taken Horatio and Eric so long to fathom out whether or not they should be together, because of Marisol, Horatio's late wife, Eric's sister. But while Eric was recovering from the incident that occurred after he rescued his father, emotions were overwhelming, and things had very much come to a head. Horatio had nearly lost Eric twice, in as many years almost, and he finally realised that Eric felt the same way about him, too...

Now, though, they were in Colorado, and finally, they were together, in bed, having made love... Horatio watched Eric as he drifted to sleep, and still felt a pang of fear, irrational, because he knew Eric would wake up..! H couldn't help the silent tears that formed in his eyes, at all the bad memories of recent times, and the thought that they were, at last, together... Only moments ago, things had been happening between the two men, that Horatio had, previously been woken by dreaming of in the middle of the night – The need of it all, and the raw emotion of it only being a dream, getting to him... Only moments ago, Horatio had caressed Eric Delko's skin, traced every line of Cuban-Russian sinew and muscle, as it was returning to strength these days... He had taken Eric Delko into his mouth, pleasured him, and treasured him, as he'd always longed to... And before that, they had made love, taking it in turns – to be loved like that, it had brought Horatio peace, and a sense of security he'd always chased, his entire life, hoping for exactly this, with whomever he was with... He always knew, from the moment he met him, and almost instantaneously fell in love with him, from behind the sun glasses Eric had gifted him, that being with Eric would be the answer... He was afraid that meant that he had used his wife as some kind of substitute, but he honestly didn't think he had... He'd just fallen for the Delko strength and warmth of spirit all over again, because he couldn't have whom he had first, and long since wanted – Eric. He had almost fallen in love one other time, too – with Tim Speedle... But 'Speed' had had his life taken from him, and Horatio had had Tim's love and gift of hope ripped away from him..! He knew he expected the world to be unfair, and he had forever rallied against that, but the unfairness, the tragedy of Speed's life being snuffed out, was another reason he wanted to cry right now... Even though, most of his other tears were truly happy, apart from those which were afraid of loss yet again... Not that he hadn't already felt this strongly about the fact that he might lose Eric before.

All of this meant that he was too weak to resist the love and the relationship that, after all this time, was taking shape between them, after Eric had woken in his hospital bed, and looked at Horatio, twice... Horatio did worry that Marisol wouldn't understand, and that she had a right to feel that way, from her new, all seeing vantage point in Heaven; that she would also be upset because Horatio had taken Eric from her, when he had begged Eric not to join her there, because he hadn't been strong enough to just keep silent, and let the man go, if he wanted to... All of the latter, was another reason why Horatio pledged to cherish Eric unwaveringly, and treat the man like a king whenever he could... But he knew, already, that this relationship wouldn't just be one where he did all the giving – The way Eric had made love to him earlier, he had confirmation in his life yet again, that the man he loved and revered so very, very much, was never selfish... The way they had joined so completely, and not just physically, the relief and reinvigoration of finally fulfilling their longing need to be together, it had given both men strength, physically and emotionally, to carry on... Horatio knew that fact would be open to ridicule if examined in quite those terms, as he realised he shouldn't have as much energy as he did, to do all they had done (!) – But it had all happened. It was no longer just a dream, though he figured, and he hoped, Eric might be dreaming of it all over again, right now..! He knew, as he had for a long time, that Eric Delko gave him the strength to face the world...
