SG1 had just left the Garage, having been in there to check on the progress of some of the vehicle refits they might need for a Mission, and Sam (Carter) mentioned something about joining them soon for a bike tinkering session... Gene smiled and watched the team go... He looked to the floor briefly, and turned to his team.
"Right, you lot!" He said, for effect. "Looks like it'll be another late night!! Going to Luigi's Place for dinner will have to wait!"
"Oh, joy!" Alex replied, resolutely, with a tad of sympathetic humour.
"We'll send Ray and Chris out to bring us some grub back, if we have to..!" Gene said, by way of instruction.
Ray and Chris looked at each other, used to this.
"Stewart's the driver..." Ray commented, just to have something to say. He was talking about Samantha Stewart. The SGC Program had a lot of Samantha, and Samuels, for that matter, in it! One of each worked in this garage, on this team.
"We can all have a say in what we order, can't we?" Shaz queried a little tiredly.
Gene held up his hand to stop a conversation before it started. "We'll discuss our order later, ladies and gentlemen! I know you're knackered out, but, as always, we've got a job to do!" He paused, looking around. "Now, Mush!" He instructed his pack of huskies, flicking a gesture with his hands, "I've got no sympathy for aching bones... or weary limbs!" He looked at Sam Tyler, wishing they didn't have any work to do, wishing there was time for other things, but knowing there wasn't, and knowing his duty... He knew that everyone, including himself, felt so tired they were, collectively, a bunch of Ancients! – They'd been so long in this garage – It felt like that much time could easily have gone by! Despite his gruff attitude, Gene didn't have a god complex, but there were long days like this when, though he'd never admit it, he felt old enough to be called an Ancient..!
