Summary: A window into people's lives through one lunchtime spent in the SGC Commissary
Info: Characters borrowed from many shows, none of which do I own..!

Jacob had met with his two new grandsons while at the SGC. Callum Kurtis was named after his two great-grandfathers on Sam's side of this new family. Callum was Hannah's father, and Kurtis was Jacob's own father. Wilfred, better known as Wilf or Fred (by Jim O'Neill, because of his Uncle, Fred) was also, of course, Jacob's grandson – Sam was one of his five genetic parents. Jacob worried how difficult that would be for them all, especially in years to come... But then, he smiled, thinking about how he had adapted to the, to say, the least, unusual! He also remembered Sam's joke when it all began, that he could sit around, finally with someone to laugh at his jokes, & he'd be able to 'crack himself up', as she put it at the time! How true that had often become! For now, he and Selmak were in the SGC Commissary, waiting for Sam and Jonas to drop by with Callum-Kurtis. In the next moment, Jacob thought about how nice it would be to try and make time to go and see his son, Mark, Mark's wife, Maggie, and his two granddaughters, Albany and Elva. Albany was named Jacob's Mom, Alba. It was a name that meant 'Scotland' in the Gaelic language. Both Jacob and Hannah had one Italian and one Scottish parent. Both places had, in effect, brought them together! He always had felt at home the few times he visited Italy – But he hadn't been back since Hannah died. Elva was another name with the meaning of 'Scotland'. Mark and Maggie had thought of moving there once upon a time – But thankfully, they hadn't, which was what had given Jacob and Mark the time to get back on talking terms...

Xena sat down next to Gabrielle at a table in the Commissary. She watched Gabrielle looking at John Sheppard, Rodney McKay, and their daughter, Jemma Opal. "Thinking of Hope?" She asked Gabrielle. Hope was Gabrielle's adult daughter, brought into existence by the Ori. She was Queen of the Ori.

"Their names are a bit similar – Hope and Opal..." Gabrielle mused.

"I'm sure John and Rodney didn't mean to be insensitive..." Xena said gently.

"I know... Hope is an ironic name anyhow, or so it's turned out this time..." Gabrielle added.

"We haven't given up on rescuing her, rehabilitating her, appealing to her human side..." Xena replied.

Gabrielle looked into Xena's eyes. "Everyone's still making the effort, aren't they?"

"Completely!" Xena smiled, and beneath the table, touched Gabrielle's knee briefly.

"But I know there are some people who think it's not a good idea!" Gabrielle spoke again... "They're as frightened of Hope and Gabriel as they are these new children!!"

"And they're wrong, both times!" Xena answered, trying to maintain her belief in that.

Illya Donaldson, known to his friends as 'Ducky', smiled as the best of all his friends, Jethro Gibbs, sat down opposite him. Illya had been talking to Jacob Carter about Scotland earlier, but he had been awaiting a reunion with his friend, LJ Gibbs.

Jethro smiled back.

"It's good to have a few minutes in the day to sit down and eat, isn't it?" Ducky pondered aloud.

"Unusual..!" Jethro mumbled around a mouthful of quite decent Lasagne.

"Where are the others?" Illya wondered.

"Just tidying up the outcome of one of Abby's experiments..." Jethro half-grinned.

"I see!" Ducky didn't know if he should be concerned about whatever had gone on...

"They're okay, Duck. They'll be here in a minute – But be prepared, they might ask you for your help this afternoon!"

"Abby's roped everyone in on this one, has she?" Ducky laughed.

"Just about!" Jethro nodded.

"Makes a difference from our usual field trips, I suppose!" Ducky then sipped his tea.

" Let's just get some on-duty style liquid refreshment, then, we can collect the twins from Auntie Janet and Auntie Helen's care, huh?" Jim turned to Daniel, who nodded. The twins, and the other SGC babies, those who weren't all ready spending lunchtime with their parents, were in the care of Janet, Helen, and some of their most trusted friends and colleagues. It worked out in shifts like that. Whoever, from a trusted circle, was 'free' of the SGC work schedule, at all possible times, looked after the children. Tired?" Jim noted of and asked Daniel, as they walked into the Commissary.

"Just looking forward to one of those fabled weekends off!!" Daniel smiled ruefully.

"Don't we all!" Jim joked.

Daniel nodded again.

"Sit down..." Jim encouraged Daniel. "I'll get your coffee... I know how you like it by now!"

"I know you do!" Daniel quietly, nearly smirked.

"Yeah-sure-you-betcha!!" Jim called casually, over his shoulder, as he headed towards the Coffee Machine counter.
