Daniel Catches Up

Summary: Daniel catches up with some of his friends, but is always keen to go home to his new family
Info: As usual, character's borrowed from many other shows, rather than an absolute crossover fest... Hope you like my choices!!
Doctor Daniel Ballard had a few of hours off. Jim was with the twins, because Daniel had an appointment to see Doctor McKenzie. It was nothing more than the appointments everyone whom had unexpectedly become adoptive parents at the SGC had to go to, Jim included. But this was Daniel's solo hour appointment, and then, he could go home, and see the children and be with Jim, until he got called back in to the SGC, assuming he didn't get called in early. The appointment was at the Academy Hospital because Doctor McKenzie was sharing some of Doctor Kroeger's workload, as Kroeger was working with Prof. Adrian Monk again...
While at the USAF Academy Hospital for his appointment, Daniel dropped in to see Helen and Janet, because he knew Helen had some work to do there today, paperwork involved, as ever, even in a Top Secret Facility, and for once, she and Janet had the excuse to work on the same project. He knew they wouldn't mind a minute's break from the chore of paperwork, no one did!! Daniel wanted to see how Helen was, hadn't had a chance to check in and see how she and the as yet unborn (partly his, and partly Jim's, so partly theirs) 6th baby were doing...
Doctor Tony Gates, one of the Doctors who'd signed The Official Secrets Act, and worked in the SGC Wing at the Academy Hospital, shared a courteous smile, and a relaxed greeting of "Hi!" with Daniel as they walked by one another, when Daniel left Helen's office. Daniel saw a few familiar faces; Doctors Phillip Watters and Billy Kronk went down another corridor, each with a pile of papers in their arms, talking about some aspect of something... Doctor Ray Vecchio was berating his friend and occasional patient Captain Benton Fraser about being 'shipped' here to the Hospital yet again, because he'd fallen back, and really shouldn't, on the old habit of tasting things while tracking someone or something's footsteps! Considering Ben was apparently, according to Doctor Vecchio, on an alien planet at the time, Daniel had to agree with that.
Someone tapped Daniel gently on the shoulder. Daniel turned to see his old friend, and Stargate Colleague Doctor Flynn Carsen, and in tow, his colleagues, one of THE leading female Historians and Archaeologists, Doctor Sydney Fox, and Doctor Nigel Bailey!
"Hello, you three!" Daniel grinned. "Are you all okay?" He asked, because they were stood in a hospital after all.
"Just the usual Stargate mandatory Medicals!" Flynn grimaced.
Daniel winced in sympathy.
"Things okay with you?" Sydney asked, concerned but casual, to take the pressure off Daniel.
"Yeah, pretty much!" Daniel laughed a little. "Just the usual Mandatory Babies Dropped Into Your Life Psych Evaluations!" He copied Flynn's earlier tone.
"How are the kids?" Flynn asked, unsure if he should ask about Jim because of Don't Ask, Don't Tell...
"They're being watched by The Board and all the Medical Evaluation Teams still..." Daniel mused. – His children, he hoped, wouldn't always have to grow up under microscopes of scrutiny. It wasn't their fault they were the literal brain children of 'alien' scientists. "- But they're happy and healthy, may they forever continue to be..."
"Yes, indeed!" Nigel agreed, with nodded head and folded arms for emphasis. He sometimes sounded like Teal'c, yet he didn't at all..! And, 'the impression' wasn't on purpose, Daniel realised.
Daniel nodded, too – A thank you gesture to each friend in the group before him, for their support and concern. "If I ever find the time to cook for a dinner party ever again, you guys will get invites..!" Daniel genuinely promised. "Alan Eppes said something about when his sons are next going to be home... I'm hoping that Jim will help me cook for a group of us all around then!"
"Brilliant idea!!" Sydney beamed.
"You can count us in, too! Flynn said with genuine enthusiasm.
"Absolutely!" Nigel agreed with his friend Flynn, who had just patted him on the back.
"I'm really, really sorry, but I'm going to be late for my appointment with McKenzie!" Daniel checked his watch for confirmation.
"Go, go, go!!!" Sydney instructed him good naturedly, smiled at him with endearment.
Daniel waved farewell to his friends and, as he dashed, within reason, down the corridor, because he honestly was running a little late, he looked forward to that meal he so badly wanted to cook for everyone...
