Summary: Some of the stories of this AU's SGC Ethics Committee
Info: Borrows characters from various shows, rather than an absolute crossover
The SGC Ethics Committee, a twenty member strong cross section of society met, as path of the course, fortnightly, and any other time they were called upon, of course. The Committee consisted of a peppering of SG team members, Specialists, Experts, Scientists, and Doctors, some members of the committee were all of this!
Said committee's members were: Doctor Daniel Ballard, Jim O'Neill, Doctor Illya Donaldson, friend of Helen Magnus, Prof. Adam Pierson, Cheyenne Mountain Security team members, Duncan McLeod, Annie Xenan and Gabrielle Lila, along with SG team member, Vala Mal Duran, retired Politician Laura Roslin, Psychiatrist Charles Kroeger, Generals William Adama ,Saul Tigh, Admiral Kate S. Janeway and her assistant Annika Hansen, Professor of Astronomy and Philosophy Larry Fleinhardt, and his wife and work partner, Megan Fleinhardt-Reeves. Medical Doctors, Heart Surgeon, Jeffrey Geiger, Brain Surgeon Aaron Schutt, SGC Chaplain, David Rossi, and Structural/Architectural Engineer turned human rights campaigner, Alan Epps, father of Don and Charlie Epps, who were part of the Atlantis Expedition. Alan was the committee's newest member, well known in and very useful in both the fields of Engineering and Human Rights. He had been offered the job some months ago, and decided that this was the closest he could be to the work his sons did, the closest he could be to sharing their world and keeping an eye on them – Even if, currently, they were in another Galaxy!
Recently, the committee convened after Captain Kara Thrace put the rest of her team at some risk to rescue Lt. Louanne Katraine. Happily for everyone, the issues were now dealt with or resolved, as Thrace and Katraine's team-mates Galen Tyrol, Sharon Agathon, Karl-Christopher Helo, and Samuel Anderson, backed up Thrace's decision and actions.
Also in recent times, of course, were the issues raised by the rescue and raising on Earth of certain SG team members new children, born because of the Alien Lab found in PXC525's system. This was an emotionally charged issue, since some members of the committee were the parents of these children.
Gabrielle Lila, too, had a tough time discussing these matters – Not too long ago, due to something outlandish that happened off-world, she became a mother of twins, who grew into adulthood at an accelerated rate. Her daughter, Hope, became the leader of the beings who brought about her birth. She was Queen of the Ori. While her brother, Gabriel-Skylar, named for Gabrielle's grandfather, even now, was under close psychiatric supervision, after he simply, understandably, could NOT cope with what his sister became, and the reason for and background of his own birth. Looking at Jim O'Neill and Daniel Ballard, knowing they, too, now were the parents of a twin boy and girl, albeit born from the work of a different race, for different reasons, was extremely tough for Gabrielle. It was only her friendship with Annie Xenan that got her through everything it resurfaced.
No. Being a member of the SGC Ethics Committee certainly was not easy.
