Summary: Daniel was injured in a battle but now, his friends, and the man he loves, rally around him to try & wake him from his coma
Daniel had been in a coma for so long now... It was like he just didn't want to wake up! They'd all tried talking to him; Sam, Teal'c, Vala, Cam, Jack, of course, Dr. Sarah Gardiner, Jim, Blair, Duncan, Adam, and Richie... But the guilt was too much for him to bear...
"Danny," Jack began, "We're all going to try talking to you again... You've got to wake up! None of it was your fault – You've got to start listening to me!" Jack sat by Daniel's Infirmary bed, and held his hand. "Listen, Danny..." He urged.
The others sat around, or on the end of Daniel's bed.
"It's not your fault, Daniel!" Adam began. "I don't blame you for not wanting to wake up, with this lot depressing you! – All this talk of blame!!" He paused. "But they're right, y'know, it's got nothing to do with you... If I didn't exist, if Duncan here, and Richie, and Jim, didn't exist, The Ancient Off-shoot gang, the Goa'uld would never have come after Earth, would they?? But it's all immaterial, Daniel, the Ancients got up off their backsides, and wiped out the Invasion team..."
"It got stopped before it kicked off..." Jim interjected.
"Yeah, and we live to fight another day, which is the point of our existence... We wouldn't have known that without you," Richie said honestly... "You and Blair... There can be only one, per tribe, to save the day, isn't that right..? And we're," he gestured around the room, "the descendants of all that..."
"Seeded by the good guys, not the other sort, I hope..." Adam nodded with understanding at Teal'c, as he spoke, not that Daniel could see him... When the SGC had first tracked down Adam, Jim, and co, there had been concerns because Adam looked so like Hebron, the host of evil Tanith, who'd killed Teal'c's girlfriend, Shan'auc...
"They know that McCleod, Ellison, AdamPierson, and the others cannot be turned into Hosts..." Teal'c started.
"Not for want of trying..." Adam remembered painfully, the time when he had been kidnapped, and attempts had been made to see if he and his kind would make the perfect host... Thankfully, his Immortal body had utterly rejected, and killed the 'symbiote'... "But with luck, they won't ever come back... And don't you go taking on any guilt over that, Daniel..!" Adam reminded him.
"With luck, Teal'c picked up, Tauri will now be viewed as Keb is... Untouchable territory..."
"Thanks to the Ancients getting up off their collective sixes to help..!" Jack squeezed Daniel's hand gently. "Their friendship with you taught them something..."
"Dan, listen to Jack..." Duncan McCleod sat down on the edge of Daniel's bed, taking his other hand. "And Richie..."
"Yeah, the kid talks sense..." Adam announced...
"... And the rest of us..." Duncan continued. "It is not your fault that Earth almost got attacked again..."
"I know that you still carry around great guilt about the fate of your wife, and Abydos..." Teal'c told Daniel. "It has nothing to do with you... The fate of your wife is my responsibility," Teal'c's voice almost cracked. "And you must remember, you were trying to help Abydos... You were not to know that there were other enemies in the Universe, besides Ra... Do not take any of the guilt upon your shoulders, DanielJackson... "All you have ever done is try to aid people. You must listen to each of us..."
Jack tried not to let tears fill his eyes.
"You haven't failed anyone, Daniel, ever..." Sam cried as she spoke. "I know you always think you should have done more... "You think you should have saved your parents, Sha're, and Abydos the second time around, from Anubis... And have a dozen other people in half a dozen other situations..."
"But think of everyone you have saved..." Dr. Gardiner spoke, gripping the end of Daniel's bed, leaning over slightly as she pleaded with him to come back to his life...
"Yeah," Vala was crying openly. "Please, Daniel... Think of everyone you've saved..."
"You've done the world, the Universe even, so much good, Dr. Daniel Jackson..." Blair Sandburg informed his friend...
Dr. Carson Beckett walked up, among his comrades... "Doctor's Orders, Daniel," he spoke to Daniel. "Wake up! They're right, man! Don't feel guilty! I know I spend half my life in The Pegasus Galaxy, flying Puddle Jumpers, and I know they scare the Hell out of me, but I'm glad we all realised I have the Ancients gene... You're an inspiration to me... You began the journey that has allowed all of us to save the world... And you began it all, totally alone, without the help of special genes, or anything..! You, Catherine, and my great-uncle, Ernest – You're my inspiration to stay in this fight! Believe me, things happen, Daniel... Stuff hits the fan, like it did when me and my friends first got to Atlantis, and accidentally woke the Wraith, BUT if we didn't explore, if we didn't strive, and fight, one day, all these Ungodly creatures," Carson paused to laugh at the irony of that sentence...
Teal'c and Jack noted it, too, and Jack tried to smile past his pain.
Carson looked back to Daniel, after looking to Jack, with his Doctorly concern... "They'd come after all of us anyway," he continued to make his point, "and we'd be defenceless... We need brave men like you, Daniel, and there's not one of these brave men, who's braver than you..."
McLeod smiled at Carson and his words... His fellow Scot spoke very true words...
Jack swallowed tears again, not least because he agreed with everything Dr. Carson Beckett had just said... "He's right, Danny..."
"Ditto!" Jim Ellison rumbled from his seat in the corner, as he thought of how much he didn't want to add Daniel to the list of Comrades he'd lost... Daniel had to be a Survivor, even if he wasn't a Sentinel in the traditional sense...
"You're one of my heroes, buddy..!" Cam moved forward, and briefly touched Daniel's arm, to emphasise his words...

When the others had left the room, Jack looked to Daniel, whose hand he still held...
"I should have said these words out loud, years ago, and if you are going to go," Jack said tearfully, "Which I BEG you not to, you need to know, before you do, " Jack breathed, remembering the time Daniel had saved Kelowna, and he, Jack, had, afterward, sat his bedside, like this, but not managed to say anything, that time... "I love you, Daniel..." He rubbed Daniel's knuckles gently as he spoke... "I really do..!" He looked into Daniel's closed eyes, and actually prayed, prayed that they wouldn't stay that way forever, Daniel's beautiful blue eyes...
The End
