Summary: Daniel reflects on rare, quiet days at home with Jack, when Jack allows himself to be the one that's held; when he realises, more than ever, that Daniel is, no matter what, his Unlikely Angel...

Like the phoenix
From the ash and dirt
I rose up from the pain and hurt
When I was at my very worst
I found you
Thought I could never love again
When a stream of light came beaming in
A thread of hope
For me to spend around you

Unlikely angel
Standing there in front of me
As if you were my destiny
Like we were always meant to be together

Unlikely angel
It feels so right inside your love
Like God has sent you from above
To honor, cherish, and to love forever

The smile upon your angel face
The heaven in your eyes replace
The hell that Ive been going through
Before you

How long have you been there for me
I once was blind but now I see
A future full of hope
How I adore you

Unlikely angel
Oh, you never know where one might be
In sacred halls or crowded streets
But God has sent one straight down to me from heaven

Unlikely angel
Unlikely angel
Unlikely angel
Unlikely angel
Hmmmm

Unlikely angel
*****

Daniel sat curling his fingers in Jack's hair...

There were days when he knew to give Jack his space... Days when he knew it was just best to sit with him through it, just watching TV, or sitting on the bank while Jack went fishing... And then, there were days like this, rare, rare days, when, together on the sofa, or in bed, it was he who held Jack; when Jack let himself be held, and be seen to need the comfort, just so that he could receive it from his dear Daniel...

These days were few...These days were wordless... These days were grey... These days were the days when Jack was evermore reminded that Daniel was his (not so) Unlikely Angel...

The End
