Summary: Daniel was going to spend Christmas alone, as was Jack, until Jack pays him a visit, and they decide not to be alone

Daniel sat at his desk, until the doorbell went.

"Jack?" He said, as he opened the door to his friend.

"Yeah-sure-you-betcha!" Jack grinned, and walked in.

Daniel shut the door.

"I hear you have the festive season off this year?" Jack asked.

"Yep!" Daniel said.

"So, what you been doin'?" Jack asked him.

"Writing Christmas cards, believe it or not!" Daniel said, moving to the stereo.

"Leave it on..." Jack said. "I'm alright with it if you are?"

Daniel nodded, and let White Christmas continue to play... "I thought some carols might get me in the mood to get on with the cards..." Daniel mused aloud.

"Mine on the pile?" Jack asked, glancing at Daniel's desk in the corner of the room. He had several desks, Daniel. This one was in the corner of the living room. "Yours is in the car..." He hadn't written any cards for years, until SG1 had given him back a family.

Daniel flicked through the pile of cards, (there were few years in his life he hadn't found the motivation or the time to write cards for at least a few people; the year Sha're had died, the first few years in care when he was a child, and one or two lonely years before the Stargate Program, when the only person he'd had to write a card for, was his neighbour at the time) and handed one to Jack with a smile... "Are you in town for the holiday, or do you have to head back to Washington?"

"Nope..." Jack said. "What about you? Any plans?"

"No..." Daniel answered. "To be honest, everyone else is busy... Even Vala. She's upset to miss Christmas, but Tomin asked her to drop by..."

"Wanna come to the cabin, be with me?" Jack asked.

"Yeah!" Daniel's blue eyes smiled. "Thanks!"

"Pack some of those cable knit pullovers..." Jack said.

"What? You mean like the one I'm wearing now?" Daniel looked down at the teal pullover.

Jack tried not grin too much... The pullover, Teal in colour, was cosy, and yet, it swept over the muscles that Daniel had developed... "Yeah..." He said. "It gets cold at the cabin."

"I remember..." Daniel smiled.

"So, like I said, pack a few pullovers, like that creamy coloured one I kept for you while you were in Oma land..." Jack suggested.

Daniel smiled. "I remembered your compliments about that cream pullover..."

"Ah, is that why you kept wearing it every time I saw you?" Jack braved.

"Maybe..." Daniel didn't quite blush. What was this; that was going on between them..? "Do you have to go home yet, to the cabin, or anywhere?"

"Nah..." Jack said. "I can stay as long as you want me..."

'Always', Daniel said under his breath. "Want some coffee?"

"Yep!" Jack smiled. He didn't want to sit down, to leave Daniel out of view when he hadn't seen him for so long... So, he walked into the kitchen with Daniel...

Daniel got down the coffee cups, turned to Jack, and smiled, meeting Jack's eyes, eyes that reminded him of a fireside, a warm room, and hot chocolate. "Christmas begins here!" He smiled.

Jack smiled, and began to get all the other stuff together for the coffee. He tucked Daniel's card carefully into the back pocket of his blue jeans. "I'll open this later..." He grinned.

"I'll get the spare room ready, if you want to say..?" Daniel asked.

"Sure!" Jack smiled. Okay, so he might not be in bed with Daniel, but he would be near him tonight... He would feel loved, comfortable, and not alone... He knew he would open Daniel's Christmas card, while Daniel slept next door... And, beyond that, he could keep dreaming, making a Christmas Wish... Trying to pray even, and find faith again.

The End
