Summary: Daniel is exhausted, so he and Jack take a mini Sabbatical up at the cabin
Info: Inspired by the song, Breathe, by Tara Blaise:
They say everything that happens, happens for a reason,
Still it's hard to believe in when you're flat on your face.
And you can get anything that you want if you believe it,
But it's hard to achieve it when you're last in the race.
If you find you lose your way
Get in a car and just drive away.
Pull the sunroof down.
And the one thing to do, hey
Is get out of town and breathe
Like you're a star in the night air,
You're at the edge of the mountain, yeah.
And you're ready to dive in the sea.
And you just have to breathe
Like you're the best of the rated,
You see the good and you take it in
And you're willing to share it all out.
And sometimes you wish you were
Just on the rebound.
It's like you're kicking and screaming
But you're making no sound.
And you can get anything that you
Want if you believe it,
You seem to think that you need it.
You push and you shove.
Grab your thoughts and write them down.
Remember the dreams that you're chasing round,
They only run with you.
So kick off your shoes in the grass,
Let yourself go, remember to
Breathe like you're the best and you're counted,
You're at the edge of a mountain yeah
And you're ready to dive, dive in the sea.
You just have to breathe
'Cos you are one of the greatest,
You see the good and you take it in.
And you're able to share it all out.
You've gotta get out of this race,
You need a better pace,
You gotta let go out of the clock,
Tick tock tick tock,
You need to stop running around,
You better bring it all down, you bring it down,
Take a deep breath and you stand your ground and breathe.
('Cos you're the last of the greatest, You see the good and you take it in)
Breathe
(And you're willing to share it all out.)
Go, go, go, go
Let it all go and
Breathe like you're the best
And you're learning
And you're a star on a
Mountain top and you're burning
And you won't stop.
Yeah, head out of town and breathe
'Cos you're the last of the greatest,
You see the good and you take it in
And you're willing to share it all out.
Let it all go and
Breathe like you're a star in
The night air, You're at the edge of a mountain yeah
And you're ready to dive in the sea.
(Go, go, go, go, go, go...)
And you just have to breathe
Like you're the best of the rated,
You see the good and you take it in

Daniel sat in the front of the truck with Jack, the window slightly open to cope with the unusually warm weather... Not unusual as in Touchstone, but a nice surprise... He was so tired. He couldn't think. He was so grateful to Jack for taking some time off with him... He was always so afraid that he'd been seen as useless, or something would happen while he was away... But he needed this break.
Jack switched on the radio, and a song filled the air that made Daniel think, as far as he could think, that his Guardian Angels were sending him a message... 'Breathe'.
"Pinch me..." He said tiredly, to Jack.
"What?!" Jack blustered as he drove along.
"Is this real, or am I dreaming to get away from some snakehead's hell, away from the pain?" Daniel asked.
"It's real. Daniel..." Jack replied, worrying about whether he should worry that Daniel might be losing it.
"Good!" Daniel smiled.
Jack saw the smile in the corner of his gaze, and relaxed a little. "Soon be at the cabin!" He grinned.
Daniel relaxed, and slept...

When they got to the cabin, Jack and Daniel unloaded the truck; Jack taking care to make sure Daniel did almost nothing... "I'm okay, Daniel..!" He smiled, as he saw Daniel standing in the middle of the pathway, waiting for him.
"I'm not an invalid, Jack..." Daniel reminded him gently.
"I'm fine!" Jack assured him kindly. He stood in front of Daniel, and placed the luggage on the path momentarily.
"How fine?" Daniel noted this.
"Fine..." Jack smiled again, and held Daniel's face with one hand, regarding him gently.
They stood there in the sun, and Jack kissed Daniel...
"Pinch me..." Daniel breathed, mid-kiss. "Am I dreaming??"
"Sorry, Daniel... Jesus! Sorry... I mean, you don't need to think about all this!!" Jack stated.
"I'd like to..." Daniel told him, clearly. "I like it... I thought I was dreaming, remember??"
Jack beamed, and carefully, slowly put his lightest embrace all around Daniel, kissing him in the early evening air...
The End
